Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is an extensive exploration of strabismus, known colloquially as squinting, a condition characterised by an unnatural positioning of the eyes, frequently with the pupil turned inwards. In examining its historical treatment, the author discusses the recent surgical advances in its treatment, prioritising the novel and groundbreaking procedure of dividing contracted muscles to correct the misalignment. The book does not neglect to explore the work of previous surgeons and medical thinkers, but it is the innovative ideas of dividing the affected muscles, and the positive results achieved, that take centre stage. The author includes detailed and practical advice on how to perform this operation successfully, acknowledging the work and contributions of Dieffenbach, Strohmeyer, and other key figures in the field. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9780260237224_0
