Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the financial challenges faced by retail and wholesale florists in four Iowa cities. Despite the unique nature of their industry, which relies heavily on credit and has perishable inventory, these businesses are subject to the same chronic need for adequate financing as many small businesses. The author examines the credit and financing problems of these florists, using data collected through interviews with 46 retail and 10 wholesale orists. They found that despite informal habits of extending credit and collecting delinquent accounts, the total amount of noncollectable accounts in the cities surveyed was only 2.3 percent of total gross sales. The author also explores the relationship between various aspects of business practices and size of noncollectable accounts, ultimately concluding that adequate financing is certainly available to those with sound operations under good management.
