It includes topics such as succession duties, hospital maintenance, education spending, asylum management, public works, and more. The author provides a wealth of comparative data from government records to bolster assertions of significant growth in revenues across a range of sectors. The author is at pains to show that these increased revenues allowed the government to increase spending in many vital areas without incurring debt. The pattern is set against a comparative context of spending over the previous four years, and contrasted with increases and decreases of similar services in neighboring American jurisdictions. Examination of budgets reveals increases in education, agriculture, and hospital maintenance, even as the government eliminated 88 tavern licenses over six years, leading to increased revenue from license fees and a decrease in drunken arrests.
