Despite the high cost of books and ongoing issues with wear and tear, the Library Committee have worked hard to keep the library up to date, especially in the Juvenile Literature section. The year has been a great success with the total number of volumes issued from the adult and juvenile sections for home reading and study was 99804, the daily average being 421, giving an increase of volumes over last years figures, also an increase of 53 on the daily average. The report concludes by reiterating the significance of a good library as a central bureau of information and is a vital part of a civilised society.
