Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book offers a profound exploration of the historical, social, and practical arguments for establishing a uniform postal rate throughout the British Empire. The author argues that such a system would strengthen the sense of unity among the scattered branches of the Empire and encourage trade and communication within its bounds. Critically examining the existing postal system, the book exposes the excessive subsidies paid to steamship companies and the onerous international obligations imposed by the Postal Union Convention as major obstacles to reform. By advocating for a postal system that prioritizes the interests of the Empire as a whole, this book shines a light on the systemic issues that hinder effective communication and cooperation within a global community. Its insights underscore the importance of fostering inter-imperial connections and the transformative potential of a uniform postal system in strengthening the bonds of the British Empire. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
