Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the impact of variables such as site index and stand density on crown production of red pine and jack pine trees in the Lake States region of the United States. Using data collected from over 100 trees, the author develops equations for estimating crown weight per tree and per cord of merchantable wood, accounting for variations in site quality and stand density. The research findings demonstrate that both red pine and jack pine trees on good sites have heavier crowns than those on poor sites, and that low-density stands produce trees with heavier crowns compared to high-density stands. This book provides valuable insights for foresters and land managers involved in estimating crown fuel weights and predicting potential fuel energy release.
