Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book projects the supply, demand, and trade of agricultural products in Austria in 1965 and 1975. The author accomplishes this by first assessing the general economic environment in which the Austrian agricultural economy will function until 1975. Next, the author projects the future output for all the significant crops and livestock products domestically produced. Finally, projections of demand are made for food, feeds, and tobacco products. The overarching theme of this book is the exploration of the relationships between Austria's economy, its agricultural productivity, and the country's policies surrounding agricultural trade. The author scrutinizes the interplay of population and labor force growth, employment levels, changes in work hours, and trends in output per man-hour and per unit of capital investment to forecast the growth rate of the gross national product. The book presents various assumptions regarding economic growth, population figures, and labor force participation in order to calculate the growth rate of the GNP. These projections of GNP growth inform the projections of future food consumption in Austria. The author concludes that Austria will increasingly rely on imported feedstuffs, cotton, and tobacco but that it can expect to meet most of its food demands through domestic production.
