The author notes that Iowa's State Library has acquired many of these rare works in spite of their increasing scarcity, highlighting the importance of local state institutions in the preservation of literature and culture. The author also notes a frequent increase in the cost of preserving these works, but nevertheless concludes that the investment is worth continuing.
