Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents an analysis of the earliest known collection of canon law, often referred to as the '3831' collection, after the Vatican library manuscript in which it was found. It is a valuable source for studying the development of ecclesiastical law in the early medieval period, and sheds light on the influence of reforming tendencies in the church during the first half of the 12th century. The author provides a detailed examination of the historical context in which the collection was created, and offers an in-depth analysis of the multifaceted nature of the collection and its constituent parts, including fragments of Roman law. This book will be of interest to scholars of medieval history, canon law, and the history of Christianity.
