Synopsis

This book examines historical writing from the late Middle Ages and Renaissance in Italy. Thousands of annals, chronicles, and histories were produced reflecting a complex society that evolved from the creation of the Lombard kingdom through the forging of a political order based on communes and finally into a system of regional Renaissance states.
