H. Richard Milner, Ph.D., is assistant professor of education in the Language, Literacy and Culture program in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Vanderbilt University. His research interests focus on teacher learning and change in curriculum development (particularly in Language Arts classrooms), urban education, and race, racism, and equity in teaching and learning. His work has appeared in numerous journals including Teaching and Teacher Education, Curriculum Inquiry, Theory into Practice, Journal of Negro Education, Teaching Education, Race, Ethnicity, and Education, and Journal of Curriculum and Supervision.
E. Wayne Ross is Professor, Dept. of curriculum Studies, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He is the General Editor of the four-volume Defending Public Schools.
