Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book traces the history of the invention of printing, and its introduction to England by William Caxton. The author, Dr. Richard Middleton, argues that the traditional story of Gutenberg, or Corsellis, being the first printer in Europe is inaccurate. Instead, the author argues printing began in Haarlem by Laurens Coster, who used separate wooden types. He claims Coster's servant stole the invention and started printing in Mainz with metal type, before the technique was introduced to England by William Caxton. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9780282101213_0
