Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the growing conflict between biblical Christian faith and a geological faith, as represented by the writings of Hugh Miller. Miller's theories about the succession of earth's creations, while popularly presented as coincident with scripture, undermined the accepted Mosaic account of the earth's creation by asserting that geological fossil forms preceded the existence of vegetable or animal life. The author maintains that this and other tenets of the geological faith are in direct conflict with the biblical account, which holds that the creation of earth and all within it took place over a period of six days. The author posits, drawing on his own knowledge of mineralogy and related sciences, that the fossil kingdom is a distinct kingdom with its own laws of reproduction and an existence independent of that of plants or animals. He concludes by asserting that the fossil kingdom, the same as all other kingdoms, must have had a beginning, as no other kingdom had an exception to being created by the "'at law' of God," including the air and water we know today.
