Excerpt from The Three Conventions
So long as we conceive the world to be only in the process of Becoming, so long will it be inevitable that all our world-conceptions be in constant ?ux. A world that never is but always to be cannot remain stable enough for a single moment to allow even of description, let alone of definition and interpretation; and a statement approximately true. Today may be anything but true tomorrow. Metaphysics and Phi 1050phy, in these circumstances, are not so much as even guesses at truth, since the truth about a process of Becoming, if it be no more than that, can only be known when the process is complete, that is to say, when all life has ceased. They are, at best, a kind of meteorological prediction, but in a field vastly more complex than that of weather and, in consequence, at a vastly greater disadvantage than common mete orology. If, as is too. Generally assumed by modern science, what we call life is only Becoming, there is small wonder that Metaphysics and Philosophy proper should be regarded as fancies unworthy of serious attention.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fundamental questions of existence, consciousness, and reality, offering a unique and profound exploration of metaphysics and philosophy. The author presents a series of dialogues between three archetypal figures: the Psychologist, the Metaphysician, and the Poet, each representing different perspectives on the human experience. Rooted in the classical view that reality is not merely a process of becoming but an underlying ground-pattern, the dialogues explore the interplay between the actual and the inactual, the expressed and the unexpressed aspects of being. Through insightful discussions on topics such as feeling, concentration, creation, the individual, and the universe, the book challenges conventional notions of self, perception, and the nature of truth. The author's thought-provoking exploration extends to cosmology, examining the language of matter and the role of convention in shaping our understanding of the physical world. The dialogues delve into the complexities of human psychology, examining the self, the rhythm of being, and the dynamics of fall and resurrection within the realm of ideas. Ultimately, this book offers a compelling and insightful journey into the depths of human existence, illuminating the intricate connections between thought, feeling, and reality. The author's profound insights into the nature of being and the role of ideas in shaping our world leave a lasting impact, prompting us to question our assumptions and explore the vast potential of human consciousness.
