Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of determining Earth's gravity, from Galileo's simple pendulum to the author's refined experiment with a reversible pendulum. The author examines the development of gravity observations as a critical part of geodetic surveys and describes the United States Coast and Geodetic Surveys groundbreaking work in standardizing gravity measurements. Detailed descriptions of the apparatus used and measurements taken in the author's experiment provide a hands-on account of the meticulousness required in gravity determinations. The author's precise calculations, which align closely with other accurate measurements, underscore the enduring value of the pendulum as a tool for understanding Earth's gravitational pull. This exploration of gravity measurements showcases the evolution of scientific methods and highlights the importance of precise observations in advancing our knowledge of the Earth. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
