Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book offers an intriguing collection of rare primary source materials dating back to the reign of Ptolemy Euergetes II during the Hellenistic period of ancient Egypt. The texts consist of 46 decrees, many of them complete, that touch on a wide range of issues pertaining to the administration of the Ptolemaic kingdom and the daily lives of its subjects. These decrees provide a valuable glimpse into the complex workings of a Hellenistic monarchy, including its administrative structure, economic policies, religious practices, and social hierarchies. Unlike other Ptolemaic source materials that have survived only in fragmentary form, these decrees are particularly well-preserved, offering a unique opportunity for scholars and general audiences alike to gain a deeper understanding of Ptolemaic Egypt and its place within the broader context of Hellenistic civilization. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9780282691110_0
