It examines the physical features of Wisconsin that shape the state&;s climate&;topography, mid-latitude location, and proximity to Lakes Superior and Michigan&;and meteorological phenomena that affect climate, such as atmospheric circulation and air mass frequency. Joseph M. Moran is the Barbara Hauxhurst Cofrin Professor of Natural Sciences and chair of the Department of Earth Science at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He has been Scientist in Residence for the American Meteorological Society and has published extensively on meteorological topics. Edward J. Hopkins teaches in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as the principal investigator for the EarthLab Project and has published widely on meteorology and meteorological education.
