The July 1990 workshop brought together specialists in dynamical systems, open and closed flows, and structure to review the global structural aspects of turbulent flows and to try to reach a consensus on their possible relationship to recent advances in the understanding of the behavior of low dimensional dynamical systems and amplitude equations. Contributions are in sections on shear flows experimental observations, control experiments, and numerical experiments; closed flow experiments; theoretical models; and panel discussions.
