Synopsis

State governments produce a wider range of policies that affect the lives of their citizens than does any other level of government. Eric B. Herzik is associate professor of political science and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. He specializes in the study of state and local government, nuclear energy/nuclear waste policy, governors, and government finance/budgeting. He has published North Carolina Focus, a monograph, and numerous essays for scholarly journals, including Policy Studies Review, Policy Studies Journal, and Public Administration Review.

Brent W. Brown is vice president for University Relations at Arizona State University. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois and publishes in the areas of public policy, education, politics, and state government.
