Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Later Edition. A later edition, circa 1993, with the dustwrapper priced at $24.95. A 32nd impression, with the number string 40 39 38 37 36 on the printer's page, which also has the printer's code '01207 43 M1'. ***Very good in black cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright. Boards clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges clean. Internally also very good, with no inscriptions and clean pages. However - please note - there is some quite significant creasing affecting the lower outer corners of some of the pages - mainly affecting pp.165-220, possibly production creasing (please see scans) ***In a very good colour-illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of $24.95. The dustwrapper is complete, with no discernible faults, other than the red colour on the spine is faded. ***192mm x 135mm. 302 pages. ***The stories are: "A Perfect Day for Bananafish", "Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut", "Just Before the War with the Eskimos", "The Laughing Man", "Down at the Dinghy", "For Esmé - with Love and Squalor", "Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes", "De Daumier-Smith's Blue Period" and "Teddy". ***'Nine Stories (1953) is a collection of short stories by American fiction writer J. D. Salinger published in April 1953. It includes two of his most famous short stories, "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" and "For Esmé - with Love and Squalor". "Nine Stories" is the U.S. title - the book was published in many other countries as "For Esmé - with Love and Squalor, and Other Stories"' (Wiki) ***A late printing of J. D. Salinger's first collection of short stories, in very good condition, albeit with the aforementioned page creasing. Even these later printings of the American edition are hard to find in the UK. The book's appearance is very similar to the format of the original 1953 edition, albeit using modern materials. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. N° de réf. du vendeur 9189
