From Library Journal

One would think that someone who has lived as exciting and diverse a life as Francis-RAF pilot during World War II, steeplechase jockey, and author of over 40 books-would have a more interesting biography. Narrated by Christopher Kay, it is written in the style of a cheap tabloid, with Lord taking potshots at Francis throughout. Although Francis always credited his wife, Mary, for her help with his novels, Lord tries to convince listeners that she was the sole author of the works. Lord then goes on to present his negative opinions of almost every Francis novel, despite these same thrillers having won awards, been published in 35 languages, and sold over 60 million copies. Lord pads the book with minutiae and details that add nothing to the story. Francis's many fans will do well to race away from this book.
