To many developmental math students, math is a mystery or a bunch of rules to be memorized. Making it his goal to take the mystery out of math, Bob Prior encourages students to conceptualize and discuss the ideas and rules of math.
A refreshing alternative to rote memorization, Prior’s approach――specifically his detail-oriented development of concepts――provides the missing link for so many students. His extensive break-down of topics allows students with even the weakest math background to grasp the concepts at hand. The informal writing style and class-tested exercise sets provide an invaluable resource for student understanding and practice.
