Synopsis

"Home Health Administration Manual" is a comprehensive policy manual that presents specific, authoritative guidance for the successful administration and management of a home health agency. The manual is written for use by either hospital-based or freestanding home health agencies seeking to attain or maintain Medicare certification. Because a policy manual is also required of agencies seeking accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) or Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), agencies may adopt the manual as their policy manual as is or modify the policies to meet accreditation standards. The manual is divided into two sections, the first for organizational policies, and the second for patient service policies. Section I includes policies related to organizational leadership and performance, financial management, control of information, patient and staff safety, and human resources. Section II includes policies related to patient rights, patient assessment and care, infection control, and continuity of care. The appendixes supply sample forms and letters, and numerous other tools useful to the operation of a home health agency. A glossary of home health terms is also provided.
