This training text offers background information and encourages critical thinking skills. The new edition also presents the physical skills of the EMT in a user-friendly "skill sheet" format. Plus, extensive new information has been added on stroke, CPR, AEDs, substance abuse, and more. The text's entire approach to emergency treatment has been drafted into an integrated series of algorithms throughout the text, showing the reader the big picture as well as each part of the process. It follows the DOT EMT-B curriculum to prepare students for written certification. Chapter summaries recap all important information at the end of each chapter in a topic-by-topic list, and check boxes highlight important information at the end of headings.
