About the author

Scott Besley is currently an Associate Professor and Department Chair at the University of South Florida, he has been with the University since 1984. Dr. Besley received his Doctorate from the Florida State University in 1984, majoring in Finance with a minor in Investments. Dr. Besley serves as President of the Southern Finance Association (2002) where he has also served as the VP of Program (2001) and VP of Arrangements (1995). He is also active in the Financial Management Association (Program Committee Member since 1985) and the Eastern Finance Association (Committee Member). Dr. Besley is active in several local organizations including the Academy of Finance of Hillsborough County Schools, the Investment Oversight Committee for the Pinellas County School Board, and the Financial Analysts Society of Tampa Bay.
