Synopsis
In 1993 Britain will no longer be an island. Even before the Battle of Hastings in 1066 the histories of France and Britain have been closely connected. For centuries politicians, travellers and engineers have dreamed of a permanent, physical link joining Britain to the continent of Europe. In 1987 France and Britain signed an agreement to build the Channel Tunnel and early in 1993, the first freight and passengers will travel through. This book contains a model tunnel and train to make, with text covering a cartoon strip story from London to Paris via the Tunnel. A history of the project, its future and environmental questions are also covered.
