Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents the results of a correlation study of water level gauge systems in the Shark River Slough region of Everglades National Park. Linear regression and correlation analysis were used to compare data from 54 staff gauges and 16 continuously recording gauges. The study determined that continuous recording gauges can be used to estimate water level at the staff gauge locations with an acceptable degree of accuracy. Regression equations and confidence intervals are presented for all station pairings meeting minimum criteria for water level estimation. Correlation analysis also highlights distinctions in water level relations in hydrologic sub-units of Shark Slough and the surrounding area. The information derived from this study can be used to determine which continuous recording gauges are essential for continued hydrologic monitoring in Shark Slough as well as to provide predictive relationships between nearby gauges to decrease the need for wide-scale monitoring. The author's findings enhance our understanding of the complex hydrology of the Shark Slough region, a critical component of the Everglades ecosystem.
