Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book measures and compares the longitude of Paris to that of Washington, D.C., using early 20th century radio techniques. In 1912, Captain J. L. Jayne submitted a proposal to the United States Naval Observatory to determine the longitude difference via radio transmission. After preliminary experiments in 1913, the author along with French observers conducted the first such experiment across the Atlantic Ocean, between Washington, D.C., and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, during the fall of 1913 and spring of 1914. This book includes the resulting findings. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9780331925708_0
