Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a legal and constitutional critique of the French Chamber of Peers' trial of Prince de Polignac and his colleagues, the last ministers of Charles X. The author, a member of the English Bar, examines the legality of the sentence, arguing that the proceedings violated the fundamental principles of French law and justice. The book provides a historical context for the trial, discussing the French Revolution of July 1830 and its aftermath. The author also analyzes the arguments presented by the prosecution and defense, and explores the broader implications of the trial for the development of constitutional government in France. Ultimately, the book argues that the trial of the ministers of Charles X was a miscarriage of justice, and that it set a dangerous precedent for the use of political prosecutions to suppress dissent.
