This was a pressing concern of the time, as tuberculosis was beginning to be understood as a major public health threat, and milk and meat from infected cows were a suspected transmission vector to humans. The book summarizes the work carried out by the author and other scientists to investigate the disease, including post-mortem examinations of cattle to find visible signs of the disease, and the use of tuberculin to test for the presence of tuberculosis. The author also discusses the implications of the findings for disease management and prevention, arguing that containment of the disease in cattle would be essential to preventing its spread to humans.
