Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the 'mulched-basin' method of citrus farming, whereby trees are watered by mulched basins rather than via the traditional irrigation system. The author presents the results of field experiments comparing both systems. Soil moisture, tree growth, and fruit yields were measured and compared, and the basins were found to promote tree health and productivity and reduce the incidence of a functional disorder known as mottle-leaf. Critically examining the current furrow irrigation and intensive surface cultivation system prevalent in citrus groves, the author encourages a shift towards the use of mulched basins. The book presents a compelling case for the adoption of organic mulching methods in citrus cultivation.
