An attempt to present a broad approach to the Cold War by comparing the politics of the USA towards the USSR with those of Britain and Canada. Key issues in relations with the Soviets are identified and major shifts in policy are analysed as are differing perceptions of Soviet expansion. The different policies and reactions of these three English-speaking allies were determined by the attitudes of their respective leaders, domestic political considerations and their economic and strategic priorities. Martin Kitchen has also written "British Policy Towards the Soviet Union During the Second World War".
