'...well-organised and clearly written...Payne's book is the most comprehensive and up-to-date text on this subject available in the UK.' - Brian Munday, Community Care Modern Social Work Theory offers a measured review of social work theories in themselves and as part of the constellation of ideas available to social workers. It is committed to the value of theory as an aid to practice and as a way of understanding the role and nature of social work in an increasingly complex and contentious society.
