RONALDO MUNCK is Professor of Political Sociology at the University of Liverpool. His books include Marx at 2000 and Politics and Dependency in the Third World. PETER WATERMAN now retired, worked at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands. He worked for the World Federation of Trade Unions in the 1960s and was editor/publisher of the Newsletter of International Labour Studies in the 1980s. He has published widely on labour movements in the third world and internationally. His next book will be From Labour Internationalism to Global Solidarity: Globalisation, Social Movements and the New Internationalism.
