Softcovers. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. 1982. [vii], 280pp. John Macquarrie (1919-2007) was a Scottish theologian, philosopher and Anglican priest. He published many works, the best known of which is probably his Principles of Christian Theology. In the present work he turns to the study of human nature. He points out that one learns about humanity chiefly from meeting human beings and living in the human condition, but to explore its full dimensions help can be found from other sources. Those drawn on here are on the one hand, Christian theology, and on the other, a variety of philosophies, mainly continental, which from Kant to the present day have reflected on human nature and human destiny. The book is bound in paperback form in the original card covers. It is in very good condition with light shelf wear to the covers. The spine and about 1/2" of the spine edge of the front cover are very faded and there is less noticeable fading down on about 1/2" of the rear cover. The contents are secure and clean and the author has flat signed the title-page together an inscription reading "To Bob, with warm regards 1983" (we believe "Bob" to be the Rt Rev Robert (Bob) Halliday, former Bishop of Brechin).
