Synopsis

Set in Sydney Cove, 200 years ago, an upright man is in charge of staging a play and, in so doing, helping convicts to reform. As his involvement with the play and his love for the lead actress grows, his hitherto strong resolutions and moral principles are severely put to the test. The author's book "Schindler's Ark" was the winner of the Booker Prize in 1982 whilst his novels "The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith", "Gossip From the Forest" and "Confederates" have all been shortlisted for the Booker Prize. He has also written "Outback", an account of life in Central Australia.

Biographie de l'auteur

Thomas Keneally began his writing career in 1964 and has published thirty-two novels since, most recently Shame and the Captives and the New York Times bestselling The Daughters of Mars. His novels include Schindler’s List, which won the Booker Prize in 1982, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, Gossip from the Forest, and Confederates, all of which were shortlisted for the Booker Prize. He has also written several works of nonfiction, including his boyhood memoir Homebush Boy, The Commonwealth of Thieves, and Searching for Schindler. He is married with two daughters and lives in Sydney, Australia.
