Synopsis
A coursebook for use with all students following media studies courses. It is in three sections: popular genre, making meaning and responding to television. Starting from popular television programmes such as gameshows, sport and soap operas, it explores the practical aspects of television production. The authors move onto the way in which meanings are realized on the screen and the values involved in that realization. The final section considers how audiences make sense of television, and suggest ways of capturing and articulating responses.
