Synopsis

A book designed to enrich further some of the material found in "Carols for Today". The first section contains new arrangements and descants which a choir may use to turn a straight congregational item into an anthem or to add colour to the final verse of a congregational item. The second section, introductions, also enables an unadorned carol to become somethng special. Instruments are used much more often in churches now and the instrumental parts in the third section will, used with discretion, add greatly to the effect of many of the carols. In using this supplement and "Carols for Today", however, choir directors are urged to use imagination and to adapt items to suit particular local circumstances. The medium must always be the servant of the message: the good news of Christ's incarnation.
