Synopsis
A guide to trees in Europe and the world, which focuses on how a tree grows and lives, why some shed their leaves and others don't, and the different products we get from trees (fruit and wood). The book introduces some of the most fantastic trees - such as the Giant Redwood in the USA: the largest living thing on earth - and there's also a spotter's guide to some of the more common trees to be found in parks, gardens and the countryside. In addition, there is a section on the importance of preserving the world's trees and forests by trying to eliminate acid rain, stopping the destruction of the rain forests and recycling wood and paper products.
