This is a self-contained study book which aims to lead the student through the section-by-section study of "An Inspector Calls" within its social, historical and cultural context. It draws out key points, themes and characterization, and activities explore each of the main characters in depth, focusing on how they are developed and how Priestley uses them to achieve dramatic tension through a series of startling revelations. Students are encouraged to read widely around the text and to look at the social and political issues of the Edwardian era.
