Synopsis

This is a guide to Willy Russell's TV play "Our Day Out", designed for Key Stage 4 students at National Curriculum levels 2 to 4 with special educational needs. It provides activities for the class, groups and individuals, offering access to the events and themes of the text. Drawing on drama, debate and close reading, the book aims to help pupils engage with the characters and think about the serious issues which underpin the play. Opportunities for producing written course work in a variety of forms are also offered. The book is part of the "Hodder English GOLD" series which aims to provide a quality English programme and comprehensive coverage of English National Curriculum requirements. Used in conjuction with units from the course book, it prepares students for GCSE qualifications.

Biographie de l'auteur

Sue Hackman is a Key Stage 3 Literacy Pilot Director for the National Literacy Strategy. Prior to her involvement with the NLS, she was an English Adviser with many years experience of teaching in the classroom. She is an experienced and highly respected author of many successful books on English and Literacy, in particular the Fast Forward series and the Hodder English series.

Alan Howe is a Regional Director for the National Literacy Strategy in the South West. He was previously an English Adviser and has a wealth of experience in teaching.
