The final synoptic unit of A level Geography courses assesses a student's ability to draw on the understanding of connections between the different aspects of the subject presented in the specification. Students need to be able to manipulate a variety of stimulus materials; to make links between an unfamiliar situation using knowledge and understanding acquired during the A level course; and be able to make reasoned, informed geographical statements in that unfamiliar context.

This text is specifically focused on improving exam persormance in the final, substantive synoptic unit by providing students with practice questions through which they can develop competence and confidence to acheive good grades.

Gill Miller - Chief Examiner, Edexcel Syllabus A (legacy syllabus); Pricipal Examiner, Unit 3 and Unit 6 Edexcel Specification A.
Gill teaches geography at the West Cheshire College.

Chris Lane - Assistant Principal Moderator Edexcel A, and examiner on the Synoptic paper.
Chris is Head of geogrpahy at Millfield School, Somerset. Chris is also a trustee of the Field Studies Council.
