The third edition of this popular title provides both a narrative and analysis of US policies in the inter-war period. It has been revised to reflect the current needs of the AS and A level specifications and includes a new chapter on foreign policy to ensure complete coverage of the period.
The accessible narrative charts the tensions of the 1920s through to the apparent economic stability and prosperity of the decade, the onset of the Depression and the political policy of the New Deal. Crucial issues such as the urban-rural divide, the extent to which prosperity was 'real' in the 1920s, the factors which led to the Wall Street Crash and the purpose and significance of New Deal are analysed in depth.
Throughout the book key dates, terms and issues are highlighted, and historical interpretations of key debates are outlined. Summary diagrams are included to consolidate knowledge and understanding of the period, and exam-style questions and tips for each examination board provide the opportunity to develop exam skills.
