Providing a survey of the origins and development of the revolutionary years, from the end of the ancien regime to the ascendancy of Napoleon, this book covers pre-revolutionary government and society, the stages of revolt, the rise of the republic movement, the struggle for power, the Terror, the Thermidorean reaction and the impact of the revolution on French society and the rest of Europe. The author discusses different interpretations of the Revolution such as Marxist and Revisionist interpretations. The text provides study guides to provide revision aids for this A-level topic.
Biographie de l'auteur
Dylan Rees works in Gower College Swansea, where he combines A level history teaching with management responsibilities. He is the author of a number of books and articles on French and Welsh history. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 2014.
