Madison Smartt Bell is the author of more than a dozen works of fiction including the acclaimed trilogy about the Haitian Revolution All Souls Rising, Master of the Crossroads, and The Stone the Builder Refused.  He has been a finalist for the National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Prize and an instructor for the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
