Synopsis
This is an account of the author's investigations in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest in which he tells of how 11-12% of the forest has already been destroyed and that this devastation will not only accelerate global warming but could produce a profound polar cooling similar to the Ice Age. He records that tens of thousands of flora and fauna are becoming extinct daily and explores the sociological and ecological repercussions of the devastation of one of the most important geological phenomena in the world. While the author reveals statistics of destruction, he also presents solutions to the most persistent problems based on serious political and economic backing.
