The fifth book in the Vic Daniel series. What do the following have in common: the world’s most beautiful woman, Uncle Theo from Estonia, a shylock called Fats and a fistful of disappearing dollars? The answer, of course, is V (for Vic) Daniel, private investigator (no problem's too petty). But hefty problems come his way too – like the sum of money (not unadjacent to $62,000) that someone has removed from Fat Nathan’s grasping hands. And that person has skipped to Canada, land of the moose, the freezing cold, the peculiar language and, thank God, the palatable beer. The land where, if you happen to be Vic Daniel and aided by ex-punk poetess Sara and ‘Willing Boy’ George, not much goes according to plan, and where the plans themselves change accordingly. For the worse. Simpler, on the surface, is Vic’s next chore. Or it would have been simpler if the most beautiful woman in the world hadn’t been a rotten little fibber. For when Ruth Braukis asks Vic to escort her Estonian Uncle Theo from airport to hotel, danger seems a million miles away. Until, that is, Vic discovers the ominous Israeli Trade Center, Miss Brauki’s economy with the truth, and Uncle Theo’s nifty way with words. But then Vic day’s as an escort service are numbered. For he himself has been escorted. Into hospital. En route to the morgue...

He is the author of four previous Vic Daniel mysteries: 'Down in the Valley', 'Hear the Wind Blow , Dear...', 'Roses Love Sunshine' and 'Angels in Heaven', with 'As She Rides By' following 'Write Me a Letter'. Born in Montreal, David M Pierce spent years in London and Los Angeles before settling in Paris.
