Synopsis

This is a comprehensive guide to the kidney and its disorders for teachers of nephrology, their students, and all doctors who deal with renal disease. All chapters in this (second) edition have been re-written and expanded to take into account recent advances in nephrology and related disciplines. In particular, sections on paediatric nephrology have been incorporated into individual chapters where appropriate. Stones, tumours, acute renal failure, chronic renal failure, infections and tubolointerstitial disease are all now dealt with at chapter length, and a brand new chapter discussing pregnancy and the kidney has been included. As the text has been expanded and amended, so has the list of illustrations. Many colour photographs have been either added or replaced, and all diagrams and artworks have been drawn especially for this edition.
