Synopsis

Musculoskeletal disorders are responsible for about 10% of consultations in primary care, and their diagnosis and management concerns medical practitioners, practice nurses and paramedical staff.



This new textbook adopts a problem-solving approach to the study of these disorders and a holistic approach to their management, in line with the General Medical Council's recommendations for the core curriculum.



The book begins by considering the musculoskeletal system as a whole and outlining the approach to its investigation. Following chapters discuss clinical problems region-by-region detailing both surgical and medical treatments. The final section concentrates on common non-specific conditions such as enthesopathy and over-use syndromes in addition to briefly reviewing connective tissue diseases.



While written for medical students, this book will also appeal to physiotherapists and nurses involved in the management of clients with musculoskeletal disorders and to primary care specialists.
