The best-selling memoir of the late literary genius. Reissued with a new introduction by Richard Eyre and an afterword by Christopher Bigsby. The autobiography of the man who wrote "Death of a Salesman", "View from the Bridge" and "The Crucible"; the man who stood against Senator Eugene McCarthy's witch-hunting House of UnAmerican Activities; the man who was married to Marilyn Monroe; the man who many consider to have been one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. "Timebends" follows the tangled but exciting course of Miller's life from his upbringing in New York during the Depression, his growth during the hope of the New Deal years, on to his triumphs as America's premiere playwright, to his work in Hollywood and beyond as an author of great popular appeal. In frank detail, he speaks about his life and passions. He goes into considerable length about the many controversies that have surrounded his work and his battles against prejudice and international injustices. Taking his life up until the turn of the century, Miller's memoir gives us a sure sense of why he was so greatly admired in Britain and throughout the world. This work is reissued in new series style along with "'Salesman' in Beijing", and the novels, "Focus", "The Misfits" and "Plain Girl". October sees the 90th anniversary of Miller's birth. The much acclaimed new Broadway production of "Death of a Salesman" opens at the Lyric Theatre, London, in May 2005. Miller is a perennial of the theatre. His plays are constantly revived all over the world; and studied on school and university courses. Continuous sales of Miller's drama backlist.
